As a Karate Krazy Kid myself in the 1950's I was overwhelmed with such an opportunity to express my mind, body and spirit. Karate classes was such a dynamic experience of my becoming more aware of my development in awareness of my talent, skills, muscle strength and especially my confidence in confronting school bullies. Forty six years later karate still has a passionate grip upon my life and soul as a dedicated practitioner of martial arts. My life evolves around my talented ability to fuel the flames of passion that Karate Krazy Kids so eagerly display when they show up at my karate classes for lessons in martial arts. What an exhilarating experience as a teacher to watch the development of my students' self-consciousness, self-confidence, self-discipline, self-worth, self-respect and self-esteem, and experience the joy and meaning that such self cultivation has upon their character as their belts change colors.
I am a passionate salesman for the world of martial arts. I recommend that every parent find a qualified teacher of martial arts and enroll his or her child in karate classes. Scrutinize the content of the class and the attitude of the teacher. Look for special emphases upon self-discipline and virtues of integrity and morality. Too much emphasis upon self-defense and an atmosphere of fanaticism toward being tough and fearless, only directs the child toward confrontations that provides opportunities to test their martial arts skills. The karma of such expressions is fruitless. A karate school that expresses high value upon self-discipline will extend its rewards of achievement into the child's realm of academic performance.
The Wall Street Journal once published an article declaring that a karate school was the most economical start up business in all of business. You can start a karate school with an empty building, a decent floor and a karate sign propped up outside. Such an unorthodox approach to business practice does have its drawbacks. First and foremost the practice of martial arts is more of an art than a business. Its aim is excellence in development of body, mind and spirit and the expression of technique in its most artistic and eloquent form. Time and repetition of practice are the elements needed to achieve the aim of martial arts. The aim of business is profit. To profit from operating a karate school you must increase cost of service and increase student clientele. The majority of dojo operators will sign a lease for a year or more. The space of the school is defined. An increase in student clientele further creates a space problem. Sooner or later the school will be forced to accommodate groups of beginners, intermediate and advanced students. The teacher becomes faced with the challenge of keeping the advanced students from becoming bored and the beginning students from becoming confused. The problem is that there isn’t enough space to separate the different classes properly with adequate privacy. When summer comes other activities compete with the karate school for the child’s interest. Business is very slow for karate schools at such time. The economic blow to the school’s financial stability is shaken. Most schools close the doors from lack of finances. Students are highly disappointed. Rushing to another karate school doesn’t replace the high spirit and friendly comradeship of the old school. This all so common tragedy of karate schools is a consequence of the art of karate being forced to obey the laws of business practice.
The concept of Karate Krazy Kids is to organize a non profit franchise with a humane goal of making the experience and practice of martial arts available for children as a wholesome exercise of health and well being. By eliminating the objective of profit the spiritual aim of self-development of the child can be successfully achieved without the karate school risking closure due to lack of finances. Our KKK franchise headquarters will build and own all KKK martial arts schools, securing every school’s continuance of operation. Operators will have options of owning their operations and leasing our facilities or joining our team of KKK teachers. Teachers will be allowed to teach their own styles. But standards of excellence in progression of muscle strength and flexibility, control and precision of execution of technique and development of character will be cultivated by a guideline manual for all KKK operators. Operators will have to graduate from our KKK Academy with the qualified skills of approval from our Grand Master Teacher.
Our concept is a revolution in martial arts, its establishment and its practice for the future of the martial arts movement in this country.
